I photographed Kelly and Travis’ wedding and what a beautiful wedding it was. I just love being a Colorado wedding photographer because of all the scenic opportunities it brings. This wedding had some of that, but it started out in a most beautiful chapel. It was at the Shove Chapel in Colorado Springs. From a photography standpoint it was a challenge since the chapel is incredibly dark. But that is when having the top-of-the-line equipment comes in very handy. Any photographer with out the best cameras and lenses would not have been able to capture those beautiful moments in such a dark place. I have had guests of other weddings, with other photographers, in this very chapel say the wedding photos did not turn out at all. That is such a shame!! Many brides and grooms probably don’t quite understand the challenges photographers face with low lighting, so they should really be sure their wedding photographer has top-of-the-line cameras and lenses. I’m happy I do and am able to capture amazing photographs from the day! In fact, all of the outdoor photos shown here were taken at the country club after the sun had set. Without needing to use artificial lighting, I was able to exposure the photos with plenty of light– thanks to my high-end gear and knowing just how to use it. I photographed a collection of frontmen/women artist performing all together as one band– ‘Ten out of Tenn’ It was a really great show. The full set of concert photos in a slideshow here.
It’s Christmas time! ‘Tis the season for holiday fun and Christmas portraits. I love this time of year when the family gets together. For some fun outdoor family photos in Denver I went to the park to meet Shannon, Steve, and Sawyer. It was a beautiful early Fall day before the cold snap that put an end to any chance of Colorado’s typically colorful Autumn leaves. We all had a great time on the playground, throwing a baseball and a football, and doing Sawyer and his Dad’s favorite thing to do together– fishing! What a wonderful family. I really had an enjoyable time with the three of them and getting the chance to photograph them and provide them with family portraits they can cherish for the rest of their lives. I recently had the always-fun folks from the dental office of Endodontic Associates over to my studio in Denver. We got some nice headshots of everyone as well as a couple of group photos. After finishing up in the studio, we went outdoors and got group photographs for the cover of a regional Colorado trade and lifestyle magazine they were featured in. Being a wedding photographer in Colorado is such wonderful thing. Anyone who lives in Colorado or even anyone who comes to visit would have to agree– the Rocky Mountains in this State are such an amazing place to be. They are obviously beautiful, but the air is also cleaner, the pace is more relaxed, and there are so many great activities to do in the high-country– skiing, hiking, biking, rafting, rock-climbing, and the list goes on and on. And of course included in that list is- having a wedding! The mountains are where my wife and I got married and I highly suggest it! So, being a Colorado wedding photographer gives me the chance to capture that experience for others and I’m so happy to do so!

A Colorado area executive, Robert, came to the studio to do some business headshots. While we were at it, we also did some more casual photos. We also did some with his pet- a beautiful golden retriever dog. Along with being a business executive, he trains dogs. Added to that he is also a volunteer firefighter in the Denver area. He brought his fireman uniform, so we did some photographs with him all geared up. I liked the idea of adding some red lighting to mimic the idea of fire, which I think added a nice mood. The pioneer of machine quilting, Harriet Hargrave, and her daughter, Carrie, are putting out their first joint book together. Harriet has written many books on quilting and is considered a national authority on quilting, traveling the country to impart her knowledge to those wanting to learn more from a master. Harriet and Carrie came to me to photograph for their upcoming book. They came to my Denver studio with quilts in hand and we photographed them with their quilts, as well as some headshots for the book cover and jacket. We had lots of laughs. It was great to meet the two of them. They have a 6 book deal and will call on me to be their photographer for additional books’ photography. Next time we’ll go to Carrie’s garden in Arvada, Colorado for a photoshoot and probably to Harriet’s rose garden for the photoshoot after that. You know Car Talk? Well there’s the national guys on talk radio. There’s also a pair of guys on a Clear Channel radio station in Colorado. They hired me to photograph them along side a couple of their cars. The location was a park in Denver where we could have somewhat of a mountain background in the photos. I don’t know how they chose which cars to bring, considering one of the talk show hosts told me he owns 80 cars. What!? Where do you put 80 cars? In a traffic jam I’ve seen 80 cars, but not many other places. One of the hosts, John Rush, brought a giant white truck. It looked more like a motel than something to travel in. And quite to the other end of the spectrum, host, Donny Seyfer, brought a little zippy looking orange car. I photographed them in front of their cars, inside their cars, and away from their cars. It was a fun little commercial photoshoot. That’s something great about doing work as a commercial photographer, there is always something new and different to photograph.
